Where tea becomes possibility.
The MEIRYA Tea Science & Innovation Institute is where we explore tea from origin to application — understanding its aroma, texture, character and potential, then translating that knowledge into new expressions across Craft, Refresh, Kitchen and Tea.
From origin to application.
Four stages, in order. Each one constrains the next, and the last one sends questions back to the first.
Stage 01: Origin
Start with what matters.

Every expression begins as a leaf that was worth choosing.
Stage 02: Understanding
Know the ingredient.

Before we change anything, we learn what is already there.
Stage 03: Creation
Bring it into balance.

Tea meets its counterparts as an equal, never as a garnish.
Stage 04: Reimagination
Take tea somewhere new.

What we learn becomes something you can pour, cook with or share.
We start with thoughtfully sourced ingredients and let their character lead.
We avoid artificial sweeteners in our product philosophy.
We keep the expression of the product honest and natural.
Four ways to read a leaf.
Tea is not one variable. These are the dimensions we work in, and the reason the same leaf can become four different things.
- 01
Aroma
The first thing tea offers and the easiest to lose. Aromatics are delicate, volatile and the part of the leaf most affected by everything we do to it.
- 02
Texture
How a tea occupies the mouth — its weight, its grip, the way it finishes. Texture is what makes a drink feel considered rather than merely flavoured.
- 03
Extraction
What comes out of the leaf, and in what order. Extraction is the lever that decides which parts of a tea's character reach the finished product.
- 04
Composition
What the leaf is actually made of, and how those parts behave once other ingredients enter. Composition is where understanding becomes predictive.
One understanding, four expressions.
The institute is not separate from the portfolio — it is where each expression comes from.
Where tea meets fermentation. Understanding extraction and aromatics is what lets tea hold its own alongside malt and hops.
02 / RefreshWhere tea meets carbonation and a lighter format. Texture and clarity carry the most weight here.
03 / KitchenWhere tea becomes an ingredient rather than a drink, and has to behave predictably alongside heat, fat and salt.
04 / TeaWhere it starts and returns. The leaf on its own terms, and the reference point everything else is measured against.
